Built in the early 1800s, the the Green Mansion was the center piece at Falls of Rough during the community's era of grandeur in the 1800s and early 1900s. However, the mansion's demise in the last 40 years left many wondering if the historic structure would ever be brought back to its original splendor.

The mansion has undergone one gigantic makeover thanks to The Falls Resort and Golf Clubs commitment to celebrate the history of this wonderful resort community.

"Restoring the mansion was one of our top priorities when we came here," says the Owner.  "It's an amazing structure and deserves to be restored and enjoyed by everyone." 

That enjoyment has come in the form of a 9-bedroom bed and breakfast. The facility is furnished with antiques and all the structural fixtures in the mansion have been restored to their authentic state. 

US Congressman Willis Green, who served in the US House of Representatives for three consecutive terms in the 1840s, built the famed structure. Green was a close friend of Henry Clay and helped manage Clay's presidential campaign. Green's son Lafayette and wife Ella expanded the mansion to its current size.

Stories of spirited evening dinners and family gatherings highlight the charm of the mansion during Lafayette and Ella's tenure. Their four siblings continued with the evening tradition as dinner was served by uniformed attendants with fine china displayed on the table.

Austrian and Baroque style furnishings accent the interior of the mansion. Each bedroom has been filled with elaborate mahogany Victorian beds that you must see to believe. Elite rugs compliment the now refurbished hardwood floors and the grand staircase now sparkles from top to bottom, step by step.

Lodging Policies

Reservations: To make a reservation, call us directly at 800-504-0906. A credit card is required at the time of booking to hold a room. We will provide a verbal confirmation followed by a written confirmation via fax, email or mail. 

Cancellations: Cancellations may be made by phone, email or fax. Reservations cancelled more than 48 hours in advance of the date of arrival are accepted with no charge. Reservations cancelled after that are charged the full amount unless the room is rebooked. Derby weekend, holiday weekends, group bookings, and several convention weeks require longer cancellation periods and we will forewarn you at the time of booking. A nonrefundable deposit of $100 per room is also due for these special bookings. 

Last Minute Availability: Don’t be afraid to call us at the last minute. We sometimes have openings on short notice and if we do... ask us about a discount! 

No Show Guests: We take guests' experiences seriously at The Falls Resort and want to accommodate all of those desiring to stay in lodging on site. Therefore, no shows without notice will be charged the full amount.  We hate to do this so please let us know if you wish to change or cancel your reservation. 

Check-In: 3 p.m. or later (early check-in can often be arranged) 

Check-Out: 11:30 a.m. (late checkout can often be arranged) 

Smoking Policy: The Green Mansion is a non-smoking facility. However, our rooms have easy access to patios and porches where smoking is allowed. Smoking inside will result in a $100 charge to your credit card. 

Pets:  Pets are not allowed in the Green Mansion Bed & Breakfast.
